Tink and Tiger Retires at Running Aces

The 14-year-old pacer Tink And Tiger called it a career following Sunday’s (September 11) sixth race at Running Aces, with a retirement ceremony in the Winner’s circle for the bay gelding by Art Major out of the Western Hanover mare For My Mom. While he did not receive a gold watch, he did receive the appreciation of the fans and connections when he entered the winner circle for one final time.

He was bred by Roll The Dice Stable of Delaware. He has raced at tracks all over the country during his thirteen years of racing, and has recorded 47 wins and 144 top-three finishes from his 363 races so far, while earning $347,410. 

He has been a fan favorite at tracks across the Midwest for many years. 
Tink And Tiger has had a terrific final season on the track, with 8 wins, 4 seconds and 5 thirds and earnings of $21,132 and a season’s mark of 1:55 heading into his final trip. 

He has been a part of the Rick Bertrand stable for the last several years and was also a part of the 2021 roster for the Summer Fling Racing Team fractional ownership program at Running Aces in 2021. 

The pacer took his career mark of 1:49.4 at age five at Balmoral Park. 

Most recently he has been campaigning at Hawthorne Racecourse, where he posted a third place finish four starts back in 1:55.4 while posting a final quarter in :27.4. He has drawn the inside post going for $7,200 in a six-horse claiming affair for his final career race, which has been named the ‘Tink And Tiger Farewell Pace’.

After Sunday’s race, Tink And Tiger will be moving on to his next adventure, as part of the North Star Riding Stables of Stacy, Minn. under the care of operator Amy Remick. 

There are just three racing nights left for the 2022 season. This week’s schedule will include Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Friday night’s (Sept. 16) program will feature the Minnesota-sired Consolation races as well as the Banker Volo Invitational, the Dandy Di Invitational, and the Goody Two Socks Invitational. 

Saturday night (Sept. 17) is the annual Minnesota Night of Champions program, with a record $720,000 in total purses.
